Sam Pynummoodu

A very familiar face among Kuwait Malayalees, Mr. Sam Pynummoodu has been in Kuwait since the year 1980. He is working in the forefront with Kerala Art Lovers Association known as “KALA” a socio-cultural organization. It is the oldest secular organization among the Gulf Indians. Even while holding leadership responsibilities of KALA, Sam used to interact with other Malayalee Organizations in Kuwait with his ideas and secular talks. He contributed a lot to resolve issues related to the Indians in Kuwait in association with the Embassy of India in Kuwait. The organizational uniqueness of KALA, as it stands now, had been achieved through his efforts, successful and transformational leadership. While bearing the assignments as President and Secretary of KALA at several instances, and in the midst of busy expatriate life, Sam continued his writing with more enthusiasm and affection. He has written several articles on various subjects prominently on current affairs and relevant discussions on popular news papers like Kuwait Times and other Malayalam dailies. A collection of such important articles in the form of a book called “Oru Pravasi Deshathe Vayikkunnu” was published by Penbooks in September 2005 and was released by Shri. M.A Baby, former Education Minister of Kerala State, in a public gathering organized by KALA. Sam was honored with the prominent Expatriate Award “Swaralaya” in 2006. His second book called “Athijeevanathinte Kazhchappadukal” was released in March 2011. The organization, Youth India Kuwait also honored him in 2012. His book of a travelogue called “Vagdatha Nadu” was released in 2013. Presently he is writing the book “Migration History of Indians in Kuwait”. Sam is working with a prominent company in the Middle East M/s. Kharafi National as head of the Electrical Engineering department for CADD section. He did his schooling in Thazhakara MSS High School and pre degree from Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara. His full name is Sam Geevarghese Daniel Pynummoottil. He hails from Mavelikara, Alleppey District. Sam was born in 1959 and is living with his wife Valsa Sam, Children- Christeena, Diana and Ben.
